Intermediate Bridge Engineer with an Interest in Structural and Forensic Engineering

 

Precision Engineering Inc. (Precision) is a multidiscipline full service engineering and procurement (EP) company based in Edmonton providing oil and gas professional services, bridge engineering and construction supervision, and commercial, residential and institutional building design.  We work closely with our sister company Precision Forensics Inc. (PFI) and provide structural engineering and forensic engineering services.

Precision Engineering Inc. is looking for a Bridge Engineer with a minimum 5 to 10 years of experience working on Alberta Transportation projects, but also interested in assisting our structural and forensic engineering teams.

The Bridge/Structural Engineer will be responsible for delivering quality engineering and consulting services to our clients on projects in a cost-effective manner. The Engineer must be familiar with the CHBDC and Alberta Transportation standards and specifications.  Projects can range from conceptual design, preliminary to detail engineering, cost estimating, life-cycle cost analysis and report writing. Responsibilities would also include client relationship development, proposal development, and project engineering.

Responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Project management which includes, cost, scope, and schedule
  • Preparation of engineering deliverables including reports, calculations, specifications,  and drawings
  • Bridge and structural analysis and design
  • Travel to various client sites as required
  • Mentor junior engineers as required
  • Construction supervision and contract administration

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in structural analysis and design
  • Registered or be eligible for registration as a P.Eng with APEGA
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in bridge engineering and construction supervision
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and plan work
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office

Precision manages a variety of projects in the upstream oil and gas industry, building mechanical design, building plumbing design, structural engineering, bridge design and testing, and fall protection.

The Precision Group of Companies is currently looking for a Health and Safety Administrator that will be responsible for the coordination and maintenance of our occupational safety program among all companies and divisions.  Must have ACSA COR Auditor training experience, be detail oriented, have a good work ethic, and be a team player. We are looking for someone that has experience primarily as an Administrator in an office or related type role.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day coordination of the programs including performing safety orientations, monitoring staff safety training, completing job site inspections and reporting
  • Provide coordination and support in the development and maintenance of the company health and safety programs, policies and procedures
  • Complete required internal COR Audits for all companies
  • Assistance with investigations of incidents to determine root cause and reduce occurrences as well as maintain accurate injury statistics
  • Regular reporting of safety statistics, equipment and PPE maintenance, inspections and hazard assessments
  • Maintenance of health and safety pre-qualifications, contractor approval programs and vendor management systems
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation
  • Assistance to the Managers and project teams on hazards assessments, training and protective equipment selection
  • In-field monitoring and inspections when needed
  • Health and safety communication to all staff, including safety meetings, memos, notifications and co-chairing a representative safety council
  • Completion of other duties as required by the Managers

Qualifications:

  • ACSA Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor training and Audit experience is required
  • Health and Safety Advanced Training including, but not limited to, a NCSO or HSA certification, or any other post-secondary education with a health and safety focus
  • Knowledge of ISNetworld, Avetta and/or Browz

Required Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the OHSA and workers’ compensation legislation
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational, planning and coordination skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to travel and be available on-call as required

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office environment
  • Worksite visits with exposure to all types of weather conditions
  • Out of town travel may be required
